My name is Hamida Begum. I was born in 1923 into a respectable Muslim family. I have experienced many challenges in my life and have seen how the rural people face severe challenges including extreme poverty with limited food security, lack of access to basic services like education and health.

In Bangladesh rural poor people have to face environmental and climate vulnerability, high poverty rate, safe drinking water and sanitation, gender inequality, weak governance and people with disabilities are often excluded.

All these factors create a cycle of chronic poverty where rural poor people struggle for years to meet their basic needs.

It’s my hope and dream that our organization “Hamida Ayez Somaj Kallyan Songstha” a social welfare organization will continue to work for the removal all of illiteracy and poverty aiming to empower the helpless and underprivileged people in rural areas.

In the line of the above I hope and belief that those who are financially capable in the society are cordially requested to come forward and to stand by the distressed people in the rural areas and also with continuing support to them now and in the future.

May the Almighty Allah be kind enough to us.

আমার নাম হামিদা বেগম। আমি ১৯২৩ সালে একটি সম্ভ্রান্ত মুসলিম পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেছি। আমি জীবনে অনেক চ্যালেঞ্জের সম্মুখীন হয়েছি এবং দেখেছি কিভাবে গ্রামীণ মানুষ চরম দারিদ্র্যের সাথে সীমিত খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা, শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্থ্যের মতো মৌলিক পরিষেবা গুলিতে অভাব সহ গুরুতর চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি হয়।

বাংলাদেশে গ্রামীণ দরিদ্র মানুষদের পরিবেশগত ও জলবায়ু ঝুঁকির সম্মুখীন হতে হয়। উচ্চ দারিদ্র্যের হার, নিরাপদ পানীয় জল, স্যানিটেশন, লিঙ্গ বৈষম্য, দুর্বল শাসন ব্যবস্থা এবং প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিরা প্রায়শই সুবিধা বঞ্চিত।

এই সমস্ত কারণগুলি দীর্ঘস্থায়ী দারিদ্র্যের একটি চক্র তৈরি করে যেখানে গ্রামীণ দরিদ্র মানুষ তাদের মৌলিক চাহিদা পূরণের জন্য বছরের পর বছর ধরে লড়াই করে।

আমার আশা এবং স্বপ্ন যে আমাদের সংগঠন “হামিদা আয়েজ সমাজ কল্যাণ সংস্থা” গ্রামীণ এলাকার অসহায় ও সুবিধাবঞ্চিত মানুষের ক্ষমতায়নের লক্ষ্যে সমস্ত নিরক্ষরতা এবং দারিদ্র্য দূরীকরণের জন্য কাজ চালিয়ে যাবে।

উপরোক্ত বিষয়গুলির সাথে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে আমি আশা করি এবং বিশ্বাস করি যে সমাজের আর্থিকভাবে সক্ষম ব্যক্তিরা এগিয়ে আসবে এবং তাদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর জন্য আন্তরিকভাবে অনুরোধ করা হচ্ছে।
